Wellness in Appalachia: Holistic Approaches to a Healthy Region
(Last Participated in 2011)
After establishing an historical foundation, the students will develop viable solutions and opportunities all centered on the concept of wellness. The specific project outcomes will depend on the students’ majors or graduate programs, whether those involve place-based education or entrepreneurial economic development or sustainable, year-round tourism opportunities. Collaborations with existing organizations will enable students to tap into existing resources and to build upon and enhance work that is currently taking place in the region. Potential community partners could include the Appalachian Regional Reforestation Initiative or the Healthy Appalachia Institute.
