| One For The Higger: Jack Higgs, A Man For All Seasons |
 |
This festschrift, published in honor of the retirement of Jack Higgs, beloved professor of English at East Tennessee State University, is a collection of articles, poems, and stories by Higgs’ colleagues, former students, and friends. Jack Higgs, writes fellow retired English professor Tom Burton, is “something of a quester for the Holy Grail, a knight in the tradition of Sir Bors, who would be content not to see the Grail himself so others might see.” The contents characterize Higgs as a man for all seasons, a sportsman who could take up a bat as well as defend a quarterback, a teacher who cared deeply about each of his students, and a self-deprecating friend full of stories that poke gentle fun at himself. |
