All Family and Consumer Sciences majors are required to complete one or more field studies and/or internships during their studies at ETSU. Students complete 135 hours of on-site experience to gain additional expertise and exposure to the every day operations in the workplace of his/her professional field of study.
Food Service Management students are also required to complete a separate food service management internship. Students are selected through a competitive process for assignments in approved businesses of public-sector organizations as interns under the supervision of the internship coordinator. Students gain an understanding of top level management, financial management, and marketing functions used within the food service operation.
