The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences utilizes a departmental advisory board to assist in providing quality academic programs that will assure success for our students. The Advisory Board currently has 18 members from various backgrounds including food service management, interior design, merchandising and retail, plant management, nutrition and dietetics, family and consumer sciences administration and education, children and family advocacy, and ETSU administration and personnel.
The responsibilities and roles of advisory board are to:- work with departmental leadership in establishing programmatic direction
- work with faculty in the definition of curriculum
- assist in fundraising
- assist in identifying internship and field studies placement and permanent job placement opportunities, and
- mentoring our students
The board meets twice a year (once each semester). Board members are invited to participate as guest speakers in various classes and are welcome to attend all departmental activities.
