Sharon E. Becker, Assistant Professor, earned her B.S. degree in Interior Design from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 1995 and an M.S. degree in Engineering Technology from East Tennessee State University in 2005.
Before earning her masters, Ms. Becker worked in the interior design industry for 10 years. During this time she earned her NCIDQ and maintained a Maryland license. Job experiences of note include RTKL and Whitman, Requardt LLP of Baltimore Maryland.
Ms. Becker's areas of expertise include commercial and government design, furniture specification, space planning, 3D AutoCAD, digital rendering, and contract documents. Her research interests focus on human behavior as it relates to Interior Design and humanistic design for the elderly. She is also active in the historic preservation of an African American Schoolhouse, which was the topic for her masters’ thesis.
In 2003, Ms. Becker was honored with an excellence in teaching award.
