DI Program Computer Matching and Appointment Procedures

Computer Matching Procedures

All students applying to the ETSU Dietetic Internship Program must participate in computer matching. Applicants should request instructions and a mark/sense card to prioritize their DI preferences. Applicants may request the materials from any ADA accredited didactic program in dietetics or from D&D Digital Systems. This request should be made to allow adequate turn around time for submitting by the February 15 postmark deadline.

There is no charge for this material. However, there is a $50.00 charge for computer matching that is due to D&D with the applicant's prioritized ranking.

Once the mark/sense card is completed with the prioritized list of DI preferences, the card must be sent to D&D Digital by certified mail (return receipt requested).

Applicants should call D&D Digital if the certified mail receipt is not returned within three weeks. There is also the option of registering for computer matching and submitting the prioritized list of DI preferences on the D&D Digital Systems website, along with a credit card for fee payment.

Deadlines:

February 15, 2008 Postmark deadline for mark/sense cards to D&D Digital Systems or online registration and selection of DI preferences
April 21, 2008 Match day for April computer matching; personal match results available from D&D Digital Systems

Match Day Procedures

Applicants who receive a computer match are responsible for accepting or declining the match by calling the ETSU Dietetic Internship Director at 423-439-7537 on the match day, April 22, 2008 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Eastern Standard Time.

A fax is acceptable if the Director is unavailable by phone. (Fax 423-439-7539) A letter or email of acceptance must be sent to the ETSU DI Director within 5 days of match day.

Within 10 days of matching, each appointee who has any handicapping condition or medical condition that might involve special accommodations must contact the DI Director to discuss any special accommodation needs which might be required as a result of such condition (including regular physician visits). Failure to meet this requirement will result in forfeiture of the internship position.

For students not appointed to an ETSU dietetic internship position, no application materials are returned.

Important Applicant Responsibilities

As a participant in the computer matching process, it is expected that applicants who receive a match will adhere to the results of the match and accept that match. It is unacceptable to decline a match in order to pursue appointment to another supervised practice program.

As a participant in the computer matching process, it is expected that applicants who do not receive a computer match will not contact any program director with open positions until the day after the established appointment date of April 22, 2008. This means you may not call programs with open positions until April 23, 2008.

This will allow programs time to confirm acceptance from their matched applicants and determine the process they will use to fill open positions. In addition, please do not ask your didactic program director to contact programs with open positions prior to April 23, 2008. They are also restricted from inquiring about open positions.
