Dietetic Internship Experience
Clinical (22 Weeks)
During the clinical rotations the intern will learn and apply all components of medical nutrition therapy, including completing nutrition screening/assessments, providing nutrition education/counseling, developing individualized nutrition care plans, documentation in medical charts, modifying diets, tube feedings, etc.
- Medical Surgical Rotations-include, cardiac, oncology, diabetes (in patient and out patient education centers), ICU, metabolic support, surgery, pulmonary, NICU, long-term care, rehabilitation and pediatrics.
Rotations will be at various clinics and hospital units. The following are links for the facilities to which the intern may be assigned for clinical rotations during the internship:

Community Public Health (8 Weeks)
During the community public health rotations the intern will educate clients in various settings, including Health Departments, Regional Children's Special Services, community groups, and public schools. The intern will also assist with delivering Meals on Wheels, homeless feeding shelter, community assessment of nutritional needs, and consultant/private practice training.
Rotations will be at various sites. The intern will be assigned to one county health department in the eight county region.
Food Service Management (4 Weeks)
During the food service management rotation the intern will develop, prepare, cost, and evaluate special meal function, monitor sanitation and safety, conduct in-service training programs, and manage food service operations.
The rotation will be at one of the following sites.
Personal Choice (2 weeks)
Interns will have an opportunity to spend 2 weeks in a rotation of their choice with consultation from the program director. This may serve as enrichment or additional practice in a specialized area of practice.
