Shipping Update 1-26-09

Effective immediately, Federal Express has replaced UPS as the State of Tennessee contractor for shipping.  This change affects ETSU in several very important ways.

- UPS rates have doubled

For many years, UPS has been our main shipping company.  Considering the challenging financial situation we are all facing at ETSU and statewide, we need to use the cheapest available quality shipping option.  That choice is now Federal Express.

- Current Fed-Ex users will not receive state contract rates.

If your department is currently using a Fed-Ex account, you will not receive the new state contract rates on your old account number.  Please contact Central Receiving for instructions on how to begin receiving the new discounted rates available from Fed-Ex.

- UPS CampusShip users

For those on campus who have been using UPS CampusShip, Fed-Ex does not currently offer a viable alternative.  We are currently researching the options available to us.  In the meantime, please call Central Receiving for pick up and processing of your shipment.

- Central Receiving will still pick up and process your shipments.

For those of you accustomed to calling Central Receiving to have your shipment picked up and processed, nothing has changed.  We will now be shipping your items with Federal Express instead of UPS.

Should you have any questions or concerns about this change, feel free to contact Jay Seehorn or Marty Harvey at 94364.  We will be glad to assist you in any way that we can. (harvey@etsu.edu, seehornj@etsu.edu )
