SAACS Activities for Spring 2003
- Tutoring will continue during the Spring 2003 semester.
A schedule will be posted early in the semester.
- Opportunities for summer research internships are posted
on the bulletin board outside Brown Hall, room 177. We have also posted information
about graduate programs on the bulletin boards outside the elevator on the
first floor.
- We have a concession stand at the ETSU men’s basketball
game on February 24th at 7:30 pm against Furman. We need to meet at the east
side stand #1 at 6:00 pm.
- The Mad Scientist Club has merged with a newly created activity
group called “Lab Rats”. This activity is spearheaded by the Hands
On! Regional Museum, and will involve children in the age group of 7 –
11 years old. The group will meet on Thursday afternoons January through March,
and we have committed to host the kids here at ETSU on January 23rd, February
6th and 20th, and March 6th. We will need volunteers to help out on each of
these days.
- The 19th Annual ETSU Student Research Forum will be held
on April 2 - 4, 2003, in the Ballroom of the D.P. Culp University Center.
This event offers students, residents and fellows at ETSU an opportunity to
present a poster of their research results in a formal setting. Please see
your research advisor for more information.
- The 35rd annual Southeast Regional ACS Undergraduate Research
Conference will take place at Kennesaw State University, Kennesaw, GA, from
Thursday April 3, 2003 through Saturday April 5, 2003. We should apply for
campus 606 funds to send a group of students to this meeting.
- We continue to supply refreshments for the Chemistry Department
seminars, and we need 1-2 volunteers to set up and take down the refreshments
each Friday. We need to be in the chemistry office at 2:20 to set up, and
seminar finishes about 3:45.
- The International Dinner is currently being planned for
the Spring semester. Updates soon.
