SCHOLARSHIPS & AWARDS
The Chemistry Department offers several awards and scholarships to chemistry
majors and students who enroll in chemistry courses. These awards are presented
to the students with excellence in chemistry and overall academic achievement
at a yearly departmental banquet.
- Thomas W. Whitehead Award: to an outstanding chemistry major who has completed
general chemistry.
- Clifford C. Boyd Award: to an outstanding chemistry major who has completed
organic chemistry and quantitative analysis.
- D. G. Nicholson Award: to an outstanding chemistry major who has completed
physical chemistry.
- Eastman Chemical Company Award: to an outstanding senior chemistry major.
The student who receives this award also receives the Outstanding Student
Award of the Chemistry Department.
- NETS-ACS Award: to an outstanding senior.
- Boris Franzus Award: to student(s) with excellence in undergraduate organic
chemistry.
- Roesel Award: to the student with the highest grade point average in the
sciences.
- Chemistry Department Scholarship: an endowed scholarship awarded to student(s)
majoring in chemistry. Renewable for four years based solely on scholarship.
