The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program is designed for students who have obtained a Bachelor’s degree in a field other than education and are not eligible for teacher licensure. The MAT program is planned to meet teacher  licensure requirements at the graduate level in the state of Tennessee. The  program duration is planned for approximately 4 full-time semesters with some concentrations requiring one course during the summer.  Also, please note that the fourth semester is set aside for Student Teaching.

K-6 4-8 7-12
*Secondary concentrations are available in Biology, Chemistry, Psychology, Sociology, Physics, Earth Science, Economics, English, ESL, German, Spanish, French, Geography, History, Government, Speech Communication, Mathematics, Vocational Home Economics (5-12), and Technology Engineering Education (5-12)

*K-12 Licensure is available with these concentrations: Physical Education, Art, Theater, and Health.
