I began working with the TECTA program in October 2002 as a specialist based at Walters State Community College in Morristown. Over the years, I have had the privilege of teaching Orientations, facilitating students' entry into early childhood programs at our local community colleges and mentoring and coaching them through the CDA Credential process. In 2010, I became the coordinator of the ETSU-TECTA site and am proud to lead our staff in endeavors to carry out the vision and mission of TECTA, while continuing to work with early childhood professionals in the field. It is truly an honor to be part of the TECTA family, whose influence stretches across Tennessee.
My background includes a B.S. degree in Pre-teaching Science from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (1997) and an M.Ed. in Early Childhood & Elementary Education from Milligan College (1999) with a teaching license for Pre-K – 8th grade. I have taught preschool, first, and third grades in East Tennessee. I am an active member in the local early childhood organization Appalachian Association for the Education of Young Children (AAEYC) as well as at the state level with TAEYC.
