Rita Leppert- is a member of the ETSU PBSI team. She holds a degree in secondary education/ biology from New Jersey City University and is finishing her master's degree in special education at East Tennessee State University. Rita has enjoyed working as a therapeutic behavior staff member for a community mental health company in rural Pennsylvania. There she worked with at-risk children and children with disabilities in the home, community, and school environments. Upon moving to the serene mountain landscape of North East TN, she began working as a Special Education assistant in an elementary school, and eventually became a teacher in a CDC classroom in the same district.
Rita is now one of our project coordinators and is responsible for providing school-wide training, consultation, and support to schools within the project service area. She provides guidance and feedback to school staff in an effort to improve the academic and behavioral expectations for students in the NE TN area. Rita also assists the Director and Associate Director in project development, implementation, evaluation, and school-wide activities.
