Admission Requirements for the Teacher Education with Multiple Levels Program

Deadline for completed Graduate School Application: 3rd Monday in April

The first step is to apply online at the School of Graduate Studies.  The complete application requires three letters of recommendation, an essay as to why you want to teach, a residency form, and the School of Graduate Studies application, along with the corresponding fee. Deadline for all Requirements for entrance into the TEML-MAT Program: 1st Monday in June

The requirements for acceptance into the TEML program include the following:

  1. Application Materials Submitted to The School of Graduate Studies
    • Have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution of higher learning.
    • Submit three letters of recommendation attesting to academic ability and professional aptitude.
    • Write an Essay on your understanding of public education in the United States and the most important current issues facing teachers and school districts.
    • Have a minimum overall undergraduate grade point average of 2.75 (on a 4.0 scale)*.
  2. Have minimum scores on one of the following:
    • 22 composite on the ACT (21 before 1989)
    • 1020 on the SAT (920 before April 1, 1995)
    • Praxis I Tests CORE Academic Skills for Educators: Reading, Writing, and Mathematics (CORE)
  3. Achieve passing Scores on the Praxis II Content Knowledge exam for the specified discipline. This exam must be passed before acceptance can be granted to the TEML Program, therefore students should take the test by the June test date. Information for Praxis tests can be found here.

  4. Pass a criminal background check. Click here for more information.

  5. Applicants will be notified of dates for Teacher Admission Board interview after the program coordinator receives completed applications from the School of Graduate Studies.
