The Clemmer College of Education is proud to represent and celebrate the contributions made by lesbian, bi, transgendered, and gay individuals. Because of widespread homoprejudice, their contributions have often gone unrecognized. When their contributions have been honored, it has usually necessitated hiding their affectional orientation. October is not only a time to celebrate the contributions of lesbians, bis, trans, and gay males to history, but also to focus one’s attention on LBGT issues, such as discrimination, marriage rights, AIDS, domestic partner benefits, and more. Throughout this month, the COE Diversity Committee acknowledges and promotes awareness and celebration of lesbian, bi, trans, and gay contributions. Art and books relating to this celebration, as well as, informative brochures are available in the main foyer of Warf-Pickel Hall in the College of Education.
