Essential
functions: teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in
non-categorical moderate to profound disabilities (e.g. physical and
multiple disabilities, mental retardation, autism); assist with
student recruitment; advise students; supervise clinical
experiences; and assist in program development.
Qualifications: earned doctorate in special education or
related field required (will consider ABD with terminal degree to be
completed within one calendar year of hire); three years in teaching
or providing other direct services to individuals with disabilities,
qualified to supervise student teachers in special education; and an
appropriate record of research and scholarly accomplishments and/or
publications in special education. Highly desirable are three or
more years of successful teaching at the college/university level;
and a record of obtaining extra-mural funding and experience in
grants, contracts management. Preference will be given to
candidates who demonstrate knowledge of diversity, skills in
addressing needs of diverse groups and an appreciation for
multiculturalism. East Tennessee State University is fully
