Reading Specialists design and implement school reading programs. They support classroom teachers in selecting materials and methodologies that facilitate children’s literacy development. They assist classroom teachers in developing effective assessment techniques. They conduct in-depth diagnostic assessments for children who seem to be having serious difficulties with literacy development. Reading Specialists conduct teacher-training workshops in the area of literacy, and they assist classroom teachers in reflective teaching projects. They communicate important information about literacy development to children’s guardians and other interested community members.
