Weekly Newsletter

May 9, 2008

Dear Families,

This week our caterpillars have grown tremendously.  Ask your child about the body parts of a caterpillar and about molting.  Next week we hope to see a chrysalis or two form in our room!

In math we have been working with two, three and four digit addition and subtraction with regrouping.  We are taking what we know and expanding upon it.  We will continue this early next week and then move into multiplication.

Ms. Maggi visited us this week and brought in a movie about Tennessee she helped us make.  At the end of the year I will send home a cd with this movie and a picture slide show on it.  It will be burned to a dvd that will work on your dvd players at home so you can show your family and friends.

We have been working a lot with nouns, pronouns and adjectives lately.  We are getting good at picking out these parts of speech in a book or a piece of writing.

As always we are continuing to publish our writing.  Sometime next week we are going to begin a life cycle webquest I created and then create our own Power Points about what we have learned.  Your child will soon know more about Power Point than you do!

Next Thursday morning we will be planting a tree and singing a few Earth Day songs in the morning after morning meeting.  You are welcome to come if you are interested.  It will be very informal.  This is to celebrate our hard work this year making our Earth a better place.

Sincerely,

Ms. Kelli
