The Literature of World Religions

The World’s Religions, Huston Smith

The World’s Wisdom, Philip Novak

Purpose of the class:

To facilitate an learning community whose mission is to examine looking through the eyes of people from the various religious traditions. The primary text examines the heart of the system of belief and then we encounter the sacred text of each tradition.

Three ring notebook

Pen

Text

 

Grading:

All assignments are equally weighted. Any exceptions will be announced. A weekly grade  will be taken from a weekly typed piece. Other assignments, i.e. research, projects, etc., will be announced and explained through discussion and rubrics. This class is characterized by an engaging, interactive learning community.

All English policies are in effect.

Traditions to be explored:

Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, Islam, Judaism, Christianity, the primal religions
