UPDATE:
May 1 -- Rich and Judy (our resident tadpoles)
have developed their legs! They are officially "froglets" now.
We will be documenting this momentous occasion in our frog journals
next week during reading centers.

Dear First Grade Families,
It has been a busy week in
first grade. As we continue to monitor and observe the
activities of our living things, we have branched off into a
discussion of people around the world. The first graders have
made great connections between the diversity of plant and animal
life and the diversity of human life on the planet. Right now,
we are looking at the things that all humans have in common: a
need for food, clothing, water, and a habitat and the diverse ways
that people around the world meet those needs. It is a fun
unit as children bring in their own knowledge and travel
experiences. Jolina went to the Philippines recently, so she
has been able to share a lot about Filipino culture.
We are entering into some
challenging mathematical material. Students are beginning to
use more complex problem solving skills and solve more challenging
problems. Please pay close attention to your child's math
homework and support them as needed.
Homework:
Until next time!
