SPANISH - Señora Case
SPANISH ONLY POLICY
Spanish is the language of
communication in the classroom. English may be spoken only as
I, the teacher, deem appropriate. If you do your assigned
reading in the textbook the day before class, you will be
prepared and should understand most of what I say. Please
see the form handed to you on the first day of class for further
explanation.
GRADING
ð
Grading will occur
on a variety of assignments, including writing, speaking, tests,
quizzes, presentations and participation.
ð
Grades will be
posted on mygradebook.com. If you have a question or concern
about your grade, you must make an appointment with me after
class, during lunch, or before or after school.
DO NOT ASK ME ABOUT
YOUR GRADE DURING CLASS TIME.
ð
Scores will be
recorded into my computer/grade book, and most papers will then
be returned to you.
GRADING SCALE
A 93-100
B 85-92
C 75-84
D 70-74
F Below 70
ASSIGNMENTS
ð
All workbook
assignments are due at the beginning of the period (when the
tardy bell rings). However, they will not be collected until
the end of each chapter. Assignments will be stamped by the
teacher at the beginning of the period on the day they are due.
All completed and stamped assignments will receive full credit.
Assignments that are not stamped but are complete will receive
50% credit. Assignments that are neither complete nor stamped
will receive no credit. Tardy assignments will not be
stamped.
ð
Final drafts will
be typed, double-spaced, in 12-point font, with 1-inch margins.
It is very obvious if you do not follow these guidelines.
ð
Correct heading is
required on every assignment in the upper right-hand corner, as
follows:
NAME
DATE
PERIOD
ASSIGNMENT NAME
Failure to follow these
guidelines will result in a lowered grade.
Essays and other large
assignments or projects (work assigned at least two days in
advance) will be due on time (at the beginning of the period)
whether you are present or not. You must make arrangements to
get the assignment to me when it is due.
Daily quizzes are given. These
cannot be made up after they have been given. If you are
planning to be absent, you may take the quiz early. After the
tardy bell has rung, the door to the classroom will be locked
until the class has completed the quiz. If you are late and
locked out, you will miss the points for the quiz. The five
lowest quiz scores will be dropped.
If you are ill or cannot attend
school for any reason on the day an assignment is due, get your
assignment time-stamped by the attendance office on or before
7:45 A.M. on the due date, and put it in my faculty mailbox.
FAILURE TO TURN IN ASSIGNMENTS ON
TIME WILL RESULT IN A ZERO.
(Hint: Don’t wait until the last
minute to complete your essay or project! If you have everything
ready at least two days before the assignment is due, you are
prepared to deal with computer malfunction that may occur just
hours before the paper is due. Even if your printer is not
working, you will get a zero because the paper should have been
completed with enough time for you to deal with such
emergencies.) Refer to your planner where you should be
denoting all assignments for activities, assignments, and due
dates. Call a trustworthy classmate if you are absent and/or
have misplaced your planner.
If you have further questions or
concerns, make an appointment to see me before or after school,
or leave me a voice mail or e-mail message, and I will return it
as soon as possible.
MAKEUP WORK
For regular assignments (other
than projects and essays), you have as many days to make up the
work as you have been “excused” for your absence.
REMEMBER: I will not pursue you
about your missed work; you must check the assignment calendar,
check with your fellow students, and get any notes or
explanation from a trusted classmate.
For all assignments that cannot
go home, you may make them up before school, after school, or
during lunch, but let me know in advance when you will be coming
and what you will need.
It is your responsibility to find
out what you have missed by consulting a classmate. Students
excused for school-sponsored activities will be expected to
complete work before the absence for the activity. NOTE TO ALL
INVOLVED in cheer, drill, stunt, student government, athletics,
band, orchestra, or choir: Your schedule is especially
demanding, but missed assignments or late work will not be
excused. Be responsible. Plan ahead.
LATE WORK POLICY
Stamped assignments (daily
assignments)-No credit given.
Essays-Go down one letter grade
per day. No credit after 3 days.
All other assignments-Go down one
letter grade per day. No credit after 3 days.
