Classroom Policies
Two basic rights and responsibilities exist in this classroom.
They are (1) everyone has a right to be respected and (2)
everyone has the right to learn.
The following behavioral expectations are derived from these two
basic rights and responsibilities.
Class Responsibilities:
-
Because you are now in middle school, there are increased
expectations for your behavior.
You will be required to “step up to the plate”.
If you do so, you will enjoy middle school.
-
Be prepared: if you are
unprepared a conduct slip will be given. Remember to bring:
Books
At least two pencils
Calculator
Colored pencils
Protractor
Graph paper
Red pen
And as needed materials such as a jump drive.
-
Homework that is late without an excused absence will receive a
maximum of 70% credit if turned in the next day.
-
Daily procedures: 3 rules: 1) sit down, 2) be quiet, 3) begin
warm-up activity.
-
If the teacher is talking, you are not.
Conduct slips will be given
for repeated interruptions.
-
Raise your hand to ask a question, sharpen a pencil, or throw
something away. These tasks
should be done before class or after the teacher is finished with
direct instruction.
-
Running and being excessively loud in the hall is not permitted at
any time.
-
Be respectful.
-
Do your best.
-
Observe all rules in the University School Code of Conduct and
Middle School Planner.
Consequences
1.
Following these policies will provide you the foundation for a highly
effective learning environment.
It is essential for you to have the type of environment where you
can concentrate on learning, feel encouraged to participate, and be
motivated to explore. When
followed, these policies will not only enable you to have a productive
middle school experience, but will also enable others to experience the
same. Remember, your actions
do affect others.
2.
Not following these policies will result in a less than effective
learning opportunity. In
order to assist you in developing good habits, the Conduct Point System
will be enforced. See your
planner for further details.
