Dear families,
This week the students are working on creating an ecosystem poster.
We will be spending time in the computer lab so kids will have
enough time to complete the necessary research.
The poster is due on Friday, Nov. 6th in the morning.
I will provide the kids with a sheet of blank chart paper for
them to use as a poster or they may purchase a blank poster from the
store to use. Students are
working alone to conduct the research on their chosen ecosystem with
defined categories that have been discussed in class.
The list is in their science journal.
Once the research part is done (Wednesday) they may choose to
collaborate on a poster with others or they can do it alone.
Again, posters are to be done on Friday morning.
Kids will be given time in class on Wednesday and Thursday to
work on the project.
Research may also be done at home early this week.

University School is conducting a food drive.
If you can send in any donations please do so.

We moved desks around today so everyone is sitting in a new spot and
we are ready for a great week ahead.

Science Unit
Dear Parents/ Guardians,
In the next couple of weeks we are going to begin a new science unit
titled Land and Water.
This is another exciting unit where the students will get to
participate in several hands on experiments.
There are several consumable items that we need to do the unit
that I am asking for your help with.
Below is a list of materials that we would love to have.
Some of the items are things that can be picked up at Wal-Mart
and others you may already have at home or work.
There are several items on the list so PLEASE send me an email of
the item or items you would like to donate and I will respond back to
you. I do not want to get
multiple numbers of some items and none of the others.

(1) roll of extra wide plastic wrap (24) rocks- (approx. 2in. X 3in.)
(3) black permanent sharpie markers (1) box of gallon zip top bags
(1) Rubbermaid box- (3 gallon
rectangular tub with lid)
(8) droppers

package of plastic spoons (4) bags of white sand (3 lbs)
(1) roll of electrical tape
(1) bottle brush
(1)
plastic funnel (1) spray mister bottle
(9) plastic 2L soda bottles (2) rolls of masking tape

sample models- (toy cars, globes, etc) (1) box of trash bags
(1) bottle of blue food coloring
55 lbs of All purpose sand (this does
not have to be one large purchase)
