Reported by Alexis
I first entered the classroom and talked to my friends, Vicki and Kacey. Then I went to put my homework books in my desk and realized that I was Roving Reporter. I was glad because I didn’t have to do BFYB (BREAKFAST FOR YOUR BRAIN).
Today is Miércoles’ Day, which is Spanish for Wednesday. The people in the Miércoles’ group are Katie, Kacey, Chloe, Victoria (Vicki), and Jacob. They have to spin the wheels we made for jobs that we do in our classroom.
Next, we drew names to see who would take Mr. Bubbles and Kokomo, the hermit crabs, home for the break. The winner was….ME! I immediately called my parents to let them know.
Then we said the Pledge of Allegiance and we listened to the announcements over the intercom. Then the rest of the class checked BFYB. Then it was time for morning meeting. Chloe was our director, and we didn’t have much time, so she chose a high five greeting. Kacey shared about her smart dog, Alex. Then we read the message on the smart board. Then Vicki read her roving report from yesterday, it was good.
Next was gym. The line leader, which was Chloe, called people to line up and we headed down the stairs to the gym. In gym, we played Alaskan softball. Then we scurried up the stairs, trying to avoid the busy middle and high school students, pushing us to get through.
When we finally got back to our classroom we had math which was only ten minutes. I’m sure everyone enjoyed that. I sure did! We did the warm up on page 160, problems 1-3.
Then it was time to go to the Culp Center that they just rebuilt. We went for a music concert. It was actually good.
Next was lunch, I ate with Jade and Mrs. Goehring. I had a ham and cheese sandwich, an apple, a cookie, some carrots, and milk. We ate outside on the playground on the picnic tables. Then we talked a little about what we liked and didn’t like about the music concert at the Culp Center.
Next we did a paper that had 50 division, addition, subtraction, and multiplication facts. We had 5 minutes to do that. I got 50 facts done, and 49 facts correct.
Next we watched a video about weather and took notes on it. Then we talked about air pollution and ways we can help save our world.
Then Mrs. Allison, our music teacher, came in and said, “Okay please get out your recorders and music books”. We sang a song called: Morning Comes Early and played the hand drum along with the song.
Next was the time of day I had been waiting for all day… RECESS!!! I interviewed Dr. Brinson, a candidate who wants to be the new principal of our school.
Here is what he said:
ME: WHY DO YOU WANT TO BECOME OUR PRINCIPAL?
DR. BRINSON: BECAUSE IT’S A K-12 SCHOOL AND KIDS CAN GO HERE FROM WHEN THEY ARE 5 TO WHEN THEYARE 18 AND I THINK IT'S COOL THAT THEY GET TO STICK WITH THE FRIENDS THEY HAVE UNTIL THEY GRADUATE AND THEY DON’T HAVE TO KEEP SPLITTING APART.
ME : WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR FAVORITE GRADE WOULD BE?
DR. BRINSON: WELL SINCE I'M TALKING TO FIFTH GRADE, I WILL SAY FIFTH GRADE, BUT GENERALLY I LIKE FIFTH GRADE AND EIGHTH GRADE THE BEST PROBABLY, BUT I STILL LIKE ALL GRADES.
ME: HAVE YOU BEEN AROUND KIDS A LOT IN YOUR LIFE
DR. BRINSON: YES I'VE BEEN AROUND CHILDREN…WELL SINCE I WAS A KID REALLY.
ME: WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT UH?
DR. BRINSON: I REALLY LIKE THAT UH IS ON ETSU CAMPUS AND THAT A SCHOOL CAN BE ON A CAMPUS BECAUSE NOT MANY SCHOOLS CAN DO THAT
ME: DO YOU THINK YOU HAVE A LOT OF PATIENCE?
DR. BRINSON: YES I THINK I DO ACTUALLY.
I also sat on the log cabin with Jade and talked. Next in class we did our Wordly Wise test which I thought was pretty easy.
Mrs. Goehring dismissed us. Harper carried the hermit crab cage down for me and then the day was over.
Thanks for reading Alexis’s Roving Report, Bye!!!
