Classroom Management System
In our Responsive Classroom we have cooperatively developed these solutions to problems that may occur.
Solutions for problems in a group or with another student.
First, when there is a problem we agree to talk about it with the other student or students. We will use "I" messages to express how we feel.
Second, if we encounter a problem with another student that cannot be talked out, we agree to walk away from the problem for some think time.
At this time, we may use the Solution Wheel for other suggestions on ways to solve the problem.
Third, only after we have tried to solve the problem using two other methods, will we then go to the teacher with our concerns.
Individual solutions for problems
First, the teacher will give me a warning and ask or tell me what I should be doing.
Second, the teacher will give me a second warning. At this time, I will go to our classroom library table for time out. Here, I will use the Solutions Form to create a solution for my problem. After I complete the form, and I feel like I have a good solution, I will place the form on the teacher's desk and return to my desk.
Third, if the teacher has given me 2 previous warnings in the same day, and I still do not follow our guidelines, then we have two options. I can request a class meeting to brainstorm a solution together or we will have a parent, teacher, and student meeting to brainstorm solutions together.
