Recycling Exploratory

Ms. Lisa talks to the K-2 students about the importance of recycling
   batteries.

The use of rechargeable batteries helps to reduce the amount of
batteries polluting our environment. This is the battery charger
used to recharge the batteries that power our student cameras.

The group performed an experiment to create a bio-battery
using lemon juice and water mixture to light up a small LED
light. This experiment introduced students to the idea that there
are other natural resources available for energy use.

Zinc and copper probes are placed in the lemon juice and water
mixture to create a chemical reaction. This reaction creates a
current of energy that moves through the connecting wires
to power the small LED light.

Drew holds our class mascot- Mr. Book Worm. Mr. Book Worm
helps to remind the K-2 recycle group that the earthworm is
one of the Earth's most valuable recyclers.

The students focus on an activity sheet about recycling.

Tristin and Zack talk about recycling batteries.
