My name is Amy Horton, and I would like to welcome you to my University School website. I teach 8th grade Social Studies as well as 6th grade Social Studies and Language Arts. Within this site you will find information about your given subject including assignments, course outline, grading policy, and helpful links.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Tusculum College in Greeneville, Tennessee (1998). I also received my Master of Arts Degree in Administration from Union College in Kentucky (2001). I earned my Education Specialist Degree in Classroom Leadership from East Tennessee State University (2004). I began my teaching career at Doak School where I taught eighth grade Language Arts from 1998- 2001. I began teaching at the University School in 2001.  In 2005 I earned National Board Certification for Early Adolescent Social Studies.  Currently, I serve as the Middle School Coordinator and Student Support Team Chairperson (K-12).

I have two children: Brady  and Connor. I played basketball at Tusculum College and coached here at University School for three years. I enjoy reading, swimming, and COOKING!

I love teaching at University School. We have the best students and parents in the world. I encourage you to stop by and see me any time.
