Conclusion

You have now completed your webquest!!!

The Civil War raged for what is considered as the bloodiest four years in the history of America.  The death toll (estimated to be at least 620,000) exceeds the nation’s loss in all other wars, from the Revolution through Vietnam.  The issues of the war (such as social, political, economic, and racial tensions) are still evident to this day.

"Both parties deprecated war; but one of them would make war rather
than let the nation survive; and the other would accept war rather than
let it perish. And the war came .... Fondly do we hope -- fervently do
we pray -- that this mighty scourge of war may speedily pass away."
Abraham Lincoln
