are some websites that I have liked and have found helpful. I have gotten them
from the professors I had while I was in school at E.T.S.U. or from the
Washington County web page which has its own link below.
Sullivan County School's

This site offers some early warning signs to watch for in children that may
indicate delays, problems in development, and/or signs of differences from other
children. Sullivan County's site provides information on what to do if a child
is showing any of these signs.
East Tennessee State University's Center for Early Childhood Learning &
Development

ETSU'S Early Childhood Learning & Development site has links to the events
that pertain to early childhood interests (i.e. conferences, seminars, etc).
There is also an application for child care services, a guide to the projects of
the program, information on training, and information on their Reggio-Inspired
approach to learning
Tennessean.com's School Report Card 2002

The initial page of this site describes how the Report Card works. This site
contains a scroll-down box where the viewer can find the county or city in which
they are interested in finding data for the year 2002. Achievement of
county/city schools, teacher salary, number of disciplines/expulsions, etc. are
included in the search. A specific school scroll-down box is also included for
those who are interested in a particular school.

This page is concerned with families and advocates who are collaborating to
ensure that children receive the best education possible. This site has a link
to forums and workshops and has a Group of the Month link. There are Articles of
Interest to peruse and various useful links.

This site provides a list of links for each portion of this law. The user
may scroll down the page to find anything from general provisions to home-bound
instruction for pregnant students.

interventions, etc. Also included is a listing of Internet resources about
special education and disability, links to information and resources arranged by

in special education and information for parents of students who need special

Federal Resource Center

This site contains information about the Federal Resource Center, about
upcoming conferences, IDEA, publications, RRFC Network, and OSEP memos. Also
included is a question and answer format about the provisions in the Individual
with Disabilities Education Act Amendment of 1997 related to students with
disabilities and state and district-wide assessment. There is also access to the
National Monitoring and Promising Practices web site.
National Clearinghouse for Professionals in Special Education

The National Clearinghouse for Professionals in Special Education (NCPSE)
operated by the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) is an information
resource for professionals and potential students in the fields of special
education and the related services professions. NCPSE gathers, develops, and
disseminates information on recruitment, preservice preparation, employment
opportunities, and attrition and retention issues. The user may obtain fact
sheets, focused bibliographies, demographic and related statistical data,
Clearinghouse articles, targeted information briefs, and state agency resource
contacts. The NCPSE also will respond to specific questions, provide free
publications on focused professional topics, provide referrals to other
organizations of associations, locate university accreditation resources, and
provide custom searches on selected topics.

This site contains information concerning a nonviolent approach for helping
people with special needs and sometimes challenging behaviors that focuses on
four primary goals of care-giving. The four goals are teaching the person to
feel safe, to feel engaged, to feel unconditionally loved, and to feel loving
toward others.

This site includes information regarding the changes in regulation. It also
contains information for parents who have children with special needs. For
teachers it contains information about lesson plans and special education
basics. There is also information about specific special education areas and
behavioral issues. This site is loaded with all kinds of information on special
education.
The Special Education Exchange

This site searches other sites and links on special education. It also
searches for online documents, listings of professionals, job listings, school
and university listings, conference announcements, items in the news, "poster
sessions" which are mini-seminars, a bookstore to order educational supplies,

ERIC Clearinghouse on Disabilities and Gifted Education

The ERIC Clearinghouse on Disabilities and Gifted Education (ERIC EC) is one
of the 16 clearinghouses in the ERIC system. ERIC EC focuses on the professional
literature, information, and resources relating to the education and development
of persons of all ages who have disabilities and/or who are gifted. It provides
access to the ERIC database of information and ERIC Digests. Through the AskERIC
services, the user may obtain answers to questions on disabilities and gifted
education. The site links to other sources and organizations related to
disabilities and giftedness. The ERIC EC will provide medical, legal,
educational, and financial advice.

The FRC has a comprehensive index of technical assistance and dissemination
projects funded by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special
Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS). The FRC mainpage also links to
education-related resources on the web, organized according to the disabilities
categories and by other topics (i.e. parents, teachers, schools, research,
professional development, and technology). The user also may obtain information
about the U.S. Government, U.S. Department of Education Offices, the Americans
with Disabilities Act, special education finance, the Individuals with
Disabilities Education Act, and other legal and policy issues.
National Clearinghouse of Rehabilitation Training Materials

The National Clearinghouse of Rehabilitation Training Materials (NCRTM)
locates and distributes training materials in a wide variety of content areas
for rehabilitation practitioners in state, federal, and private agencies nation
wide. The materials include books, documents, and training materials developed
under grants and contracts with RSA funds, and documents protected by copyright
developed independent of RSA funds. The user may also obtain reference and
research services from the NCRTM. The site links to other disability,
education/counselor education, vocational/employment, and federal sites. NCRTM
also links to A to Z Disability, Medical and Government Resources which is an
alphabetical listing of disability, medical, and government sites.
