Classroom Teacher Excellence Award!!
TACEI 2009 Classroom
Teacher Excellence Award winners announced
JOHNSON CITY—In
conjunction with the Week of the Classroom Teacher, the
Tennessee Association for Childhood Education
International annually recognizes excellence in teaching
and rewards Tennessee classroom teachers for their work
and dedication to the education of children from birth
through early adolescence.
Nominations from across
the state were received for teachers who have
demonstrated excellence in the classroom. A committee
from each region of Tennessee made the final selection
of one teacher from each of the four age divisions:
Infancy/Toddler, Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten,
Elementary and Middle School.
Mary Myron, a
kindergarten teacher at University School on the campus
of East Tennessee State University, was given the award
for Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten. Malinda Williams of
the Early Childhood Learning Center at Kingsport’s
Washington Elementary School was the winner in the
Infancy/Toddler category.
Recipients are presented
certificates and one-year memberships in ACET. They also
have an opportunity to participate at the TACEI 2009
fall conference “Hall of Excellence” and to share their
success stories with others across Tennessee.
