*Other
materials as announced
*Lessons and
content in this class will be strictly aligned with the 8th
Grade State Curriculum Standards.
GRADING,
HOMEWORK & ABSENCE POLICIES
Grading:
Grades will consist of tests (60%), quizzes (20%), and homework
(20%).
Homework:
Homework is very important and is due at the beginning of class
when checked. Homework will not be checked every class meeting
but will be checked for completion randomly throughout the
term. It is very important that homework is completed each time
it is assigned as this will aid in the understanding of concepts
as well as laying the foundation for future material. Each
student will be given a 100 for his/her homework grade with five
(5) points deducted for not having homework completed when
checked. Homework turned in one day late will result in a 1.5
point deduction (70% grade). The homework grade will be
averaged in at the end of the 9-weeks term.
Absence:
When you miss a class, YOU are responsible for finding out what
you have missed. On the day you return, find out and what needs
to be made up by speaking with me. You will have the same
number of days to make up the work as the number of days you
were absent.
COMMUNICATION
& PROGRESS REPORTS
The best way
to reach me will be through email (penleyj@etsu.edu). I
can be reached via phone through the office (439-4271) – please
leave a message and I will return it as soon as possible.
Progress
reports will be sent home every four-and-a-half weeks to keep
you and your parents/guardians updated on your grades. These
must be signed and returned within three days or a conduct slip
will be issued.
