ACT Prep Syllabus

Purpose: The
purpose of this class is to increase student scores on
the
mathematics and science portion of the ACT.
Materials: Students will work with a variety of

Tentative Schedule:
Each day of
the week will be dedicated to a different ACT Prep activity.
Monday: Practice Test
Tuesday: Practice Test
Wednesday:
Special Topic Review
Thursday:
Special Topic Quiz, Group review of practice test
Friday: Independent practice on website with math and
science topics
A note about
Independent Computer Work:
Students may
use the ACT website as they see fit for personal review.
Students are encouraged to take advantage of the customized
practice tests available on the website. Additionally, students
are encouraged to practice other parts of the ACT (besides the
math and science sections) outside of class. Use of the website
will be assessed using a completion grade. Students are
required to take all four online ACT practice tests by the end
of the semester.
Grading:
18 Practice
Tests + 4 Online Practice Tests – 25 points each
for
completion
Special Topic Quizzes – 10 points each
Homework - 5 points each assignment
Homework: Homework
may be assigned periodically. Problems will be based on Special
Topics studied in class.
Grades will
be calculated by finding the percentage of points earned out of
the total possible points. Students are responsible for
any work missed due to absence. This includes homework, quizzes,
and tests.
