News - Dr. Joe Borden - University School Teacher of the Year
 

 picture Congratulations to Dr. Joe Borden, recipient of the University School Teacher of the Year  Faculty Award!

 

During the CCOE (Clemmer College of Education) Awards Ceremony, held on Tuesday, April 17th, 2012, at the Carnegie Hotel, Dr. Borden was recognized and presented with the Teacher of the Year Award.  During the ceremony, our University School Singers, under the direction of Dr. Borden, provided the entertainment for the occasion, doing an outstanding job!

Dr. Borden has been employed for the last 17 years at University School as Instructor of Choral Music and Instrumental Music and Theatre Arts.  Prior to University School, Dr. Borden held various positions as a Music Instructor, Director of Music, and Associate Pastor in the Music Ministry.  He was also a Commisioned Officer in the United States Army for four years.  Dr. Borden has attained a Bachelor of Music degree, a Master of Arts, Master of Music, and Doctor of Musical Arts degree.  Dr. Borden also has extensive experience in Music and Theatre performance

Students at University School have a great deal of respect for Dr. Borden as an instrutor, Vocal and Instrumental Ensemble director, and also as head Baseball coach.  K-12 students voted for the award recipient, with Dr. Borden receiving the highest number of votes. Dr. Borden is a superb example of the excellent instruction and leadership provided at University School.  We are so very proud to claim him as a Buc!
