Girls Soccer    2008-2009 Season Highlights

2008-2009 Watauga Conference Champs!!!!!

Well the TSSAA 1A/AA soccer season is over.  Our girls made a great effort this year, winning the Watauga Conference and District 1A/AA Championships, and University High placed 2nd in region to Pigeon Forge (L 2-1).  We went to sub-state where we lost to Christian Academy of Knoxville 9-0 who went on to win the state title.

The UH team faced adversity at every turn this year, losing both of our starting goalies for health/injury reasons.  In the regional playoff game, we lost to the officials in a game that has been contested to the state TSSAA board.

The coaches Victor Chirica and Ron Kind did a great job in preparing, guiding and coaching the girls all the way.  Breanne Baudinot continued to play a contributing part to this team as moral support and motivator.  The Girls University High Soccer Team can hold their heads high for a season well played.  We love you, Bucs!!!!

Have you noticed that our UH girl soccer players are wearing one teal-colored sock?  These socks represent a very special person in our lives.  The socks are in honor of fellow team member, Breanne, who is currently taking a break from the playing field, while receiving medical treatment.  Also, only a few "Bracelets for Bree" remain and can be purchased in the school office for $2.00 each.  If anyone would like to send an email they can do it through Caring Bridge at http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/Bre.  The team is looking forward to Breanne's return and sends their love to Breanne and her family!

Congratulations to the Girl's Soccer team for winning the TSSAA District 1A/AA Championship!!  Way to go, Lady Bucs!
