Buc Boosters
meet the first Monday of the month at 6:00 P.M.
in the University School Library.
We
are “Buc Boosters”
University school sports are
having a great spring and there are still plenty of games and
events to watch. Make sure to catch one of the remaining boys’
soccer games. The team is being led by a big group of seniors.
Daniel Foster had a hat trick by scoring 3 goals in the 1st
half of the Crockett game. Senior night made it extra special
and a big crowd was there to see it. In addition to the seniors,
coach Chirica has a talented bunch of sophomores starting and
playing also. Keep supporting them by getting to the games.
Our
girls have really played some great softball at times this year.
They have a very young team, some talented upperclassmen, (2
seniors) just not enough upperclassmen. There are lots of
athletic sophomores and freshmen coming up led by sophomore
varsity pitcher Ashley Tipton, and I’m sure the coaches
are looking forward to them all having another year of
experience. Watch for them to have a strong finish this year
like they did last year. Check the schedule and catch a game.
Track
and field team is brand new. We have no home track yet, so all
the events are away. Doesn’t seem to bother Coach Cahill, the
girl’s team won the conference and he is looking to go to state.
Coach brings his same skills and work ethic to the track events
that have dominated the state tourney in cross country, and so I
wouldn’t doubt him at all. We have senior Jessica Bentley,
junior Stephanie Davenport winning in sprints and relays
and freshman Carrie Jones winning hurdles. Wow…Go
Bucs!!
The
baseball team started playing tough competition right out of the
gate and wins were hard to come by. Now it seems the coaching
trio of Borden, Roberts & Ellis has them playing well heading
into the districts. Varsity has 7 very good seniors, more than a
few have their sights on playing college somewhere next year.
Senior pitchers Taylor Fleenor, Tyler Evanshen and
Will Burton have been dominant at times, add standout
junior Ethan Vicars, and that’s a pretty tough rotation.
More home runs by Law Loving and Matt Hickman, and
steady defense up the middle may be enough to extend their
season into the state tournament. University school baseball has
lots of young talent and our JV team has played a lot and won a
lot. They will get stronger and faster and in coming years and I
am looking forward to watching.
Thanks again for supporting all of our student athletes. Go to
the games, help in the fundraisers, and come to a meeting. Our
teams need your support.
**Be sure to join us at the
Boosters Athletic Awards ceremony on Sunday May 18th.

These options
represent some of the ways you may support the University School
Jr. Bucs. We have others that feature advertising that
facilitate your business needs. Some of those are team banners,
posters, publications and event flyers. While the Buc Boosters
program primarily supports the students through athletics, we
seek support for all students and the entire school. University
School students grades K-12 need continuous support from the
community for every aspect of their education. You may choose to
donate funds, materials, equipment, or services, directly to the
school. We will be glad to speak with you about any resources
you may be able to share with University School. Remember,
donations may be tax deductible. Always ask for a receipt.
