About this conference: This year's symposium is designed to increase the primary care provider's knowledge, skill and competencies in newly emerging evidence-based patient management in the areas of Chronic Pain Management, Vitamin D, Sleep Apnea and Cardiovascular Disease, Congestive Heart Failure and COPD.

Target Audience: Primary Care Physicians (Including Internal, Family Medicine, OB-GYN Specialists, and Pediatricians), APNs and PAs, Nurses, Physical Therapists, Pharmacists, and Other Healthcare Providers.


Overall Conference Objectives: As a result of attending this activity, the participant will be able to:
  • Describe strategies for management of Chronic Pain in the primary care setting
  • Describe current pharmacotherapy for patients with Chronic Pain
  • Describe the pathophysiology, patient presentation and management of fibromyalgia
  • Describe appropriate physician management strategies for patients needing the benefit of controlled substances
  • Describe the efficacy and controversies in the role of Vitamin D in the development and treatment of various disease states
  • Identify psychological risk factors for opioid misuse, abuse, or diversion
  • Discuss the various types of heart failure
  • Discuss sleep apnea's high prevalence in cardiovascular disorders
