About This Conference: The Wellmont CVA Heart Institute and The Office of Continuing Medical Education at East Tennessee State University is pleased to present the 8th Annual Cardiovascular Summit, to address the latest hot topics in the diagnosis, treatment and management of cardiovascular disease.

This year's topics include:

  • Renal denervation for patients with drug-resistant hypertension
  • Management of pulmonary embolism
  • Cardiac PET and other advanced imaging modalities for better patient management
  • Modern role of anticoagulation and ablation for management of afib

Overall Conference Objectives: As a result of attending this activity, the participant will be able to:

  • Describe resistant hypertension and patient selection for renal denervation.
  • Explain the general approach to management, prevention, complications and treatment of pulmonary embolism
  • Identify how the use of cardiac PET and other advanced imaging modalities contributes to better patient management
  • Recognize the latest diagnostic and management strategies for patients with structural heart disease
  • Determine appropriate anticoagulation based upon stroke risk calculation and clinical gudielines
