MEDICAL STUDENT EDUCATION COMMITTEE
CHARGE
The Medical Student Education Committee will serve as the institutional body that, together with the Executive Associate Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs, is responsible for the development, management, and evaluation of the undergraduate medical curriculum, designed to provide an integrated and relevant general medical education. Operationally, the committee will forward its recommendations directly to the Executive Associate Dean, who, upon delegated authority from the Dean, after seeking appropriate faculty input when necessary, will implement such decisions. The Medical Student Education Committee shall have authority to appoint subcommittees as appropriate to assist in its responsibilities. The committee, with the aid of the Executive Associate Dean, will solicit input from the faculty, students, the administration, or the departments as to future curricular initiatives, policies, or procedures relating to the medical student curriculum. The committee will likewise give periodic and frequent reports to the faculty, students, administration, and departments regarding matters under review and any actions taken. The committee will be comprised of 13 faculty members, including the chair, appointed by the Executive Associate Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs who will represent the Dean for this purpose. Members may be reappointed upon term completion. College of Medicine and University faculty and staff will serve as consultants to the committee.
Additionally, there will be four elected medical student representatives, one from each class.
