Michael Floyd, Ed.D

Professor and Clinical Psychologist

Michael Floyd I was born in Florida, and later moved to Illinois and New Orleans. I completed by bachelor's degree at the University of Georgia and master's and doctorate at Auburn University. Prior to my faculty appointment with ETSU Department of Family Medicine, I practiced at Watauga Mental Health Services and Woodridge Psychiatric Hospital in Johnson City as a psychologist and director of a chemical dependency inpatient treatment program. My professional and research interests include substance use disorders, physician well-being, doctor-patient relationships, clinical interviews, and subjective aspects of illness.  My wife, Dr. Susanna Floyd, teaches third grade at the University School. We live in historic Jonesborough with our two children, Anna (now a freshman in a college in Arkansas) and Ben (destined for college in fall, 2005). Besides hanging out with my family and the locals in town, I enjoy singing in the church choir, cross-country skiing, hiking and bicycling (single track, road, and tandem).
