Wellmont-Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center (HVHMC) is a 505 bed tertiary care hospital, which has attracted physicians from every region of the nation by offering practice opportunities that are equivalent to those of a university medical setting. The hospital serves patients from Northeast Tennessee, East Kentucky, and Southwest Virginia. It is known to offer "big city" medicine without the headaches of a big city, offering the quality of life of a medium-sized city in a spectacular setting. It also affords physicians the opportunity to practice where there is still the genuine need for additional physicians.

A $33 million expansion program houses the region's premier heart treatment center, which includes four cardiac catheterization labs and four open-heart operating suites. HVHMC is one of Tennessee's five designated Level I Trauma Centers providing services for over 60,000 emergency patients treated annually.

The Women and Children's Division has 23 private birthing rooms that host over 1,450 deliveries annually. The obstetrical surgical suites provide patients and physicians with the very best facilities and technology for bring new babies into the world. A 15 bed Level III neonatal intensive care unit with state of the art equipment is located just one floor below the OB/GYN unit.

There are 450 attending physicians on staff, over 90% of whom are board certified in their respective fields. The staff represents virtually every subspecialty.
