Dr. Heiman grew up outside of Cleveland in Solon, OH, and graduated with a B.S. in Management from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University. She received her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University, and then traveled to Virginia for Family Medicine training at the University of Virginia. The University of Michigan was her next destination for a Sports Medicine Fellowship and some junior faculty work. In 2003 Dr. Heiman joined the faculty at the University of Connecticut/St. Francis Hospital Family Medicine Residency as the Associate Residency Director and Associate Sports Medicine Fellowship Director. There Dr. Heiman was the Team Physician for the WNBA Connecticut Sun, the World Team Tennis Fox Force and four high schools within the Hartford Public School System. Dr. Heiman also covered the Big East Women's Basketball Tournament, State High School Girls' and Boys' Basketball Tournaments and the state high school Wrestling Tournament for Class S. Dr. Heiman became Program Director at the Johnson City Family Medicine Residency Program in January 2012, where she looks forward to enhancing sports medicine education and adding team coverage to her work there. Dr. Heiman's husband, Nick, is a 6th grade teacher and coaches football, wrestling and track.
