Welcome to the ETSU-Bristol Family Practice Residency website. Our residency program is located in a beautiful region of Southern Appalachia, with amenities that make it appealing at both professional and personal levels. We are one of three fully-accredited family medicine programs administered by East Tennessee State University, 

a national leader in training primary care physicians and recognized for its efforts to provide experiences in rural health care.
While much of the educational experience emphasizes rural healthcare, our residents come from diverse backgrounds with varied interests and career goals. Our faculty is energetic and committed to providing quality training in family medicine, and we strive to direct our training to the residents career needs while helping them become well-rounded physicians.

We recognize that family medicine is not just a career, it is an attitude. For this reason, we believe that a residency program must not only provide a solid educational experience, but it must remain supportive of family and personal life, as well. In Bristol, we think we have achieved this balance.
