Three Great Programs
The Department of Family Medicine at East Tennessee State University, James H. Quillen
College of Medicine, has three great residency programs located in Bristol, Johnson
City and Kingsport, Tennessee. Each is accredited by the ACGME and the AOA, and collectively
trains 60 family medicine residents a year. Our focus is on producing comprehensive,
community-focused, patient-centered and compassionate health care providers.
We welcome applicants dedicated to the specialty of Family Medicine from US Allopathic and Osteopathic Medical Schools, and from International Medical Schools recognized and approved by the Tennessee State Board of Medical Examiners.
Applications are accepted utilizing the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). We begin the screening process as soon as the ERAS post office opens and schedule interviews late September through January. Applications are reviewed by our recruitment committee and preference given to candidates with excellent communication skills, US Clinical training/experience, motivation and leadership. We accept ECFMG sponsored J-1 visas only. We do not offer externships or observerships at this time.
