Useful Websites PubMed is a service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine located at the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI). PubMed includes over 17 million citations from MEDLINE and other life science journals for biomedical articles back to the 1950s. PubMed includes links to full text articles and other related resources. PubMed Central (PMC) is the U.S. National Library of Medicine's digital archive of biomedical and life sciences journal literature, providing free access to the full text of articles. The Genome database at NCBI provides views for a variety of genomes, complete chromosomes, sequence maps with contigs, and integrated genetic and physical maps. The database is organized in six major organism groups: Archaea, Bacteria, Eukaryotae, Viruses, Viroids, and Plasmids and includes complete chromosomes, organelles and plasmids as well as draft genome assemblies. OMIMTM (Online Mendelian Inheritance in ManTM) is a catalog of human genes and genetic disorders. The database contains textual information and references. It also contains copious links to MEDLINE and sequence records in the Entrez system, and links to additional related resources at NCBI and elsewhere. All Databases is a hotlink list of all 30 databases contained on the NCBI site. Many of these may be quite useful as one gains experience |
