How do I submit an application?
Application to our program is made through the School of
Graduate Studies at ETSU. Applications can be made on-line
or by downloading printable application forms. Directions
can be found on the
Prospective Students page. Please notify
our office (e-mail biomed@etsu.edu or call 423-439-2031)
when you submit your application materials to the School of
Graduate Studies.
What materials do
I need to submit?
In addition to the application form, you will need to
submit transcripts undergraduate and any graduate studies,
letters of reference and scores for the GRE exam.
International students also need to submit scores for the
TOEFL exam. Be sure to complete the personal essay included
in the application.
Is the GRE
examination required?
Yes. Our program and the School of Graduate Studies
requires official scores for the GRE exam.
Is there a minimum
score requirement for the GRE exam?
Our admissions committee does not set a minimum score for
the GRE exam. The exam is just one of many factors that the
committee considers. Studies have shown the exam is not, in
itself, a strong predictor of success in graduate school.
What is the
deadline for submitting an application?
Although there is no firm deadline for applications to the
Biomedical Graduate Program, most of the positions for Fall
admission will be filled early in the Spring semester. We
advise all students who are considering applying to our
program to submit materials before March 1st.
For what semester
of entry are applications accepted?
Under most circumstances, students are admitted only for
the Fall semester.
How do I inquire
about the status of my application?
Contact the School of Graduate Studies regarding the
receipt and processing of application materials. Mary
Duncan, Graduate Program Specialist (423-439-4302,
duncanm@etsu.edu) processes all applications for the
Biomedical Science program. Feel free to
contact our office for any questions you
have about the program or the status of your application.
Is a formal
interview required?
Well qualified applicants who reside in the United States
will usually be invited to visit us.
During the visit, applicants have an opportunity to tour
the research facilities and to meet with students and
faculty. Applicants will also meet with one or two members
of the admissions committee.
How do I apply for
financial aid?
All applicants are considered for financial support. Most
students who are admitted to the program will be offered
support through a research assitantship that includes
payment of tuition and fees and a competitive stipend.
