Applications
The Combined Internal Medicine/Psychiatry Residency program at the James H. Quillen College of Medicine, East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, Tennessee welcomes applications from graduates of U.S. and foreign medical schools.
Applications to the Internal Medicine/Psychiatry program are accepted utilizing the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Review and screening of applications begins as soon as the ERAS post office opens and interviews continue until late February of each year.
All applicants must have passed Step 1 and Step 2 (CS and CK) prior to the start of residency training. All applicants must have current letters of reference and Foreign Medical Graduates must be ECFMG certified. Our institution allows us to accept J1/H1 visas on a case-by-case basis. All applications are reviewed by the recruitment committee thoroughly with an emphasis on considering the entire content of the application. Eligible applicants will be contacted to schedule an interview.
Our Internal Medicine/Psychiatry program is unique in that the program director has joint faculty appointment in both departments. Most of our graduating residents have stayed locally and join ETSU and its affiliate hospitals. Both the Medicine and Psychiatry programs have been fully accredited for 5 years (2007-2012). Our board pass rates are above the national average.
We realize that the choice of a residency program is a difficult one; therefore, we welcome any questions you might have concerning our program by e-mail at adamsj@etsu.edu. Thank you for your interest in our training program.
