Why Quillen
Small Class Size
Safe, beautiful location
small class size
students are given lots of responsibility during clerkship
years
Words of Wisdom
Relax during your summer, but try to get some of your
textbooks and do some quick skimming over the material.
This will help you out a lot, especially if you have not
taken a prior anatomy course.
Life Outside the Classroom
Being an immigrant, I especially take extra time to go over
my notes. Therefore, life outside the classroom is for the
most part absent. Occasionally, I join classmates to go to
the movies or have lunch. There are also many
extracurricular activities that students can participate
in. So far there has been soccer, football, dragon-boat
racing and weekly basketball. Students can also take small
elective classes such as Medical Spanish.
Being a Quillen student
I think one of the best things about Quillen is the small
class size. I personally know all of my classmates as well
as some of my colleagues who are in their second and third
years. With the small class size, students are always
helping each other, leaving no room for extreme
competitiveness. Moreover, not only do our professors know
us well, we have professors for next semester who already
know most of us by name.
Prior Life
I emigrated from Egypt at age 11, knowing very little
English. My family settled in Chattanooga, TN, where I went
to middle school, high school, and college. I graduated
from the University of TN, Chattanooga with a B.S. in
Chemistry.
