Why Quillen
What attracted me to Quillen was the humility of
the faculty and staff, their genuine interest in the
wellbeing of the students, and the humanism that they
possess. Additionally, the small school atmosphere and
focus on primary care provide an intimate learning
environment, which is very student focused and address
current issues in medicine and the future of medicine as
challenges that each of us can approach and influence.
Being a Quillen Student
I love every minute of it and it is evident that
the professors really care about my future as a physician.
Everyone here is ready to lend an ear or a hand. They
inspire all the best in me.
Living In Northeast Tennessee
Great local folks, beautiful scenery, and infinite
opportunity to explore and understand primary care in a
rural setting.
Prior Life
I was a rebel in my previous life, defiant of established
norms and searching for fulfillment beyond my defiance. I
traveled to New Zealand and Australia, toured Western
Europe, and lived in Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico. I did
genetics and diabetes research, worked construction,
trained horses, and finally decided on medicine as a
career. I’ve never looked back.
Words of Wisdom
It’s all a balancing game and about staying true to
who you are. Keep your head in the game, but don’t
forget why you’re playing.
