Why Quillen
Being a nationally ranked school in primary care,
nationally ranked in rural medicine, and conveniently
located close to my hometown, Quillen was the only
choice for me; there was no comparison! When I
interviewed, everyone made me feel like part of a
family.
Being a Quillen Student
Academically, I am receiving an exceptional
medical education, and I feel like I am being prepared
thoroughly for when I get out into the "real
world". Socially, I absolutely love my fellow students
and professors. I will definitely make and keep my
best friends for life from this experience.
Life Outside the Classroom
I enjoy hiking at Roan Mountain, biking the
Virginia Creeper Trail, and playing intramurals.
Prior Life
I took a year and a half off between undergrad and
medical school. During that time I worked at a
pediatric clinic in my hometown.
Living In Northeast Tennessee
I love the people; everybody is friendly. I
also enjoy the breathtaking scenery. You actually
experience all 4 seasons here, which is not the case in
some regions.
Juggling School and Family
My immediate family lives only about 45 minutes
away, and they are very understanding and supportive of my
goals and aspirations. I have an older sister who
lives in Johnson City, and we meet at 5:30 in the morning
and run frequently. We "kill two birds with one
stone" exercising and catching up.
