All students are required to purchase and maintain health insurance as a condition of enrollment at the College of Medicine. This requirement may be satisfied by purchasing insurance through the student insurance program, or by providing proof that you have comparable insurance through an alternate provider. All students must provide the Student Support Services Office evidence of health insurance by completing the Insurance Declaration Form on an annual basis. The form, along with the submission due date, will be emailed to all medical students. Failure to respond will result in the premium being automatically included on the Fall fee bill.

Medical students can select from Plan I or Plan II and may cover a spouse and/or child(ren) under the same plan at additional cost.Read the brochure thoroughly and comparison shop with other providers before making your decision, as the school insurance has not, in some cases, provided adequate coverage for some medical students. If a student selects the school health insurance, the premium will be included on the Fall fee bill. If a student chooses to cover a spouse and/orchild(ren), the student must pay the premium(s) separately.

The Student Support Services Office is advised of changes to the student insurance program in the summer by the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR). Benefits, premiums, and conditions are subject to annual change.
